<35mm: A matter of surroundings – objects scanned with negativ scanner
»<35mm: A matter of surroundings« explores our understanding of tiny found objects. If a certain material or substance is in the wrong place, it is often evaluated as unpleasant. By looking closely at individual parts and taking the objects out of context and putting it in a new framework small overlooked objects become monumental two-dimensional sculpture-like elements. Starting from the scanned object, I began to study the shape, surface, and structure of the small objects and transfer into different media. By shifting the context (visually) the viewer experiences how valuable a shift in perspective can be. Inspired by the process, I reflect on my role in this experiment: Do I see myself as a designer-engineer and want to explore the structures, the principles of construction and function in order to be able to use them for other purposes? Or do I see myself as a collector?
